XBee Dog Sensor

After discovering his dog raiding the garbage, Axel decided it was time to rig up a warning system– ensuring it never happens again. He built a motion detecting system that sets off an alarm when the dog enters the room.

He used PIR sensor to detect when the dog enters the room. For wireless communication, Axel used two XBees paired with an Arduino Leonardo and an Arduino Yun. He configured the XBees using the new XCTU (pictured below).

With this system in place, Axel can rest easy knowing he’ll get a warning before his dog can cause any more trouble.

Hi, I have a very similar project in mind to detect people entering multiple areas, giving an alarm when each area is entered. I am using the same PIR detectors and was thinking originally of using an Arduino. However, I believe that the xbees have several inputs and outputs and I wonder ehy they can’t be used to give a multi channel alarm directly, without the use of an Arduino – thoughts??
